Borgo Saletta
Vinification & tasting notes
The Borgo Saletta is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Merlot adds fruit aromatics and suppleness, and the focus is on producing fine tannins in order to provide more immediate drinkability. This wine is a true expression of the whole estate, encompassing all vineyard sites through its diverse blend. The Borgo Saletta is aged for just under a year in barrels that have already seen 1-2 years of use for the cellaring of Saletta, contributing complexity without the more marked definition of new oak. The first vintage was 2004, which incorporated Sangiovese rather than Merlot, still used to this day. Earlier vintages can benefit from a 5-10 year cellaring cycle.
